5 Simple Ways to Pamper Yourself at Home

Hey mama, you are worthy of taking the time and even splurging a little to pamper yourself!
Lots of times, we wait until special occasions or until someone gets us a birthday or mother’s day gift, to think about what will really make us feel special. But that has got to stop.
The primary reason being you are a grown woman who deserves to love and kindness for herself. And while self care doesn’t have to cost a thing, part of my self love means treating myself to something special–big or small–once in a while.
On the flip side, if you’re feeling guilty about overspending, it might be time to look into a budget. But spoiler alert: There’s nothing wrong with spending money on things that make you feel good every now and then.
I believe in celebrating the little things and taking time to just appreciate being alive. Because if we aren’t doing our best to enjoy this thing called life, what is all for?
And if that means pampering myself with a mini mani on a Tuesday night, then so be it. One fun way to do something special for yourself is to take yourself out for a one-woman date night.
Go to a restaurant, a movie, a nail salon, whatever it is, go solo and just enjoy the pleasure of your own company. It feels a little awkward or maybe even embarrassing at first. But once you realize you can go wherever you want and to do whatever you want, it’s the most empowering feeling ever.
Of course, that’s not always so easy to get out of the house for an extended period of time, as a mom juggling multiple responsibilities or with limited help for childcare. So although I cannot recommend that enough, I wanted to share some fun and easy ways I enjoy being with me, myself, and I at home, too.
So start by throwing your hair up into a messy bun, sliding into some comfy slippers, and a cute lil robe (Psst. You can even get 20% off your entire first order to Kindred Bravely for both when you shop through my link here!)
Now let’s get into my 5 ways to pamper yourself at home.
1. I’m not a big DIY gal, that just ain’t me. But I know a lot of people are realllly into that life and here is one recipe I actually have tried and did enjoy. It’s a DIY exfoliating lip scrub!
Basically, you combine a few quick household ingredients: coconut oil (I’ve also seen this done with olive oil), white sugar, and brown sugar. Then, simply rub it onto your lips.
Either way, your lips are exfoliated and soooo soft afterward. Follow with a moisturizing lip balm. My personal favorite, literally the only one I will use anymore is Carmex Classic Medicated Lip Balm. Having a ride or die chapstick fave might make me a snob.
But this is the ONLY stuff I’ve tried where my lips didn’t feel dry again 15 minutes later. There is clearly some kind of racket happening here.
2. Ready for my fave weekly go-to for easing stress and washing my cares away? Jazz up that bath, mama! I’ve got a tie here for my two favorite ways to do this. I tend to alternate between CocunOat Milk Bath and Lavender Bath Salts made with real fresh lavender flowers. Mmmmm.
They are both luxurious as all get out. But if you’ve never tried a milk bath before, you are gonna find out real quick why Cleopatra took them alllll the time. Yes, queen.
Side note: I discovered both of them through my friend, Kyra. She’s the sweetest lil’ mama of one and the founder of Lavender Meadows Co. Her journey started when she found a passion for clean, natural skincare and began developing her own products with the highest-quality ingredients to treat her own acne and her son’s eczema.
It all took off from there. Her postpartum care package ended up being such a hit, she launched her own website and now creates these incredible products full time. I’m so obsessed with her products, you can actually buy them directly from my little self care gift shop to support both this blog and her small business. Win-win!
3. Ok, next up: I’m a MAJOR sucker for a great pedi. Once again, I’m probably a snob about this because once you’ve had the cadillac of pedis you can never go back. But it’s not always easy to keep up with this personal maintenance and a great pedi isn’t cheap either.
So here’s what I do between times to hold me over until I can get back in the salon. I have two words for you: Amope Pedi. Not to be graphic here but it’s this little electronic machine that smoothes off rough skin on your feet with coarse roller heads. My husband is obsessed, too. Don’t worry, he has his own roller head.
And don’t forget to grab a few of their Coconut Oil Essence Foot Masks, too. Because OMG, your feet will never feel smoother. And over 1,000 4.5 star reviews don’t lie!
Wait, there’s more!
4. To finish off my home pedi or mani, I have a new solution I’m super excited about. First, I’m not the type of gal who always has her nails done.
Because whatever I do, I cannot get the nail polish to not be chipped by the next day. I even dabbled in a home gel nail lamp and all that craziness. But I found I was super unhappy with the damage being done to my nails when I removed them. Major cringe.
That’s when I realized my problem is just nail polish as an entire category. That’s why I’m so jazzed I found out about Dashing Divas nail strips! (*the clouds open up and the sun appears as an angel sings “ahhhhhh!”). I’m literally wearing them right now and feel so put together, which is rare for me TBH. Ha.
One kit with two manicures worth costs less than $10, they only took me 20 min to put on, and they last up to 14 days. Plus, they are like polish in that they aren’t damaging to your nail bed. Helloooo, that’s a no brainer for me.
5. My last tip for pampering yourself at home is using a nice face mask. Pretty basic, but what can I say, that’s me! I found this article with 9 DIY face mask recipes if you’re feeling crafty.
But seriously, who is busting out Tumeric or even knows what that is? So here are two much better alternatives for busy mamas. Sorry, Elle!
The first is these different varieties of Avatara sheet masks. They are highly rated and well loved by all sheet mask fans out there. Plus, you can get them for a bunch of different skin care needs.
Now, me myself? I prefer the experience of cream masks for two reasons. The first is you don’t look like Hannibal Lector when wearing one, the way you do with a sheet mask. The second reason is because they are just thicker and more luxurious, easier to wear, and more fun to apply.
Going back to Lavender Meadows for a minute, to get in the spirit of this article, I put on her Whipped Parfait Fruit Enzyme Mask earlier today as part of my Sunday self care routine.
And let me tell you my skin felt soft AS FRICK afterward. She makes it with real fruit acids to smooth and soften your skin texture, diminish hyperpigmentation, and reduce wrinkles. Not that I have any of those, of course.
You can thank me later.
I also would be doing you a major disservice if I didn’t also mention her Self Care Spa Package. If you’re like me and would rather just cut to the chase with the ultimate all-in-one home spa experience.
It’s complete with her Whipped Parfait Fruit Enzyme Mask, hydrating Moon Beam Essence which is like a better version of a toner, the aforementioned CocunOat Milk Bath, and heavenly smelling Almond & Coco Body Cream.
It’s a done deal if you ask me.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed these quick tips today. Let me know in the comments below what your favorite way is to pamper yourself!
